SCA-LOC-287

The Inner Conservatory Gardens preserve botanical specimens that require controlled environmental conditions and long-term observation. Over time the gardens expanded beyond their original preservation role to become one of the most frequently visited areas of the Archive. Stone pathways winding between planting beds fountains and statuary provide access to research areas while maintaining stable growing conditions for rare species. Seasonal weather appears to influence the atmosphere of the conservatory more strongly than elsewhere within the Archive. The gardens also serve as a quiet retreat between restoration projects and investigations.
