ARC-INS-173
A large wall-mounted astronomical clock permanently installed within the upper observatory of the Strange Collectables Archive. Unlike most catalogued instruments the clock predates surviving archive records and appears to have been integrated into the observatory architecture rather than installed after construction. During a Late Summer observation cycle the mechanism was discovered halted at exactly thirteen minutes past midnight despite the internal movement remaining fully operational. Investigation revealed a preservation pin intentionally inserted between active gears and secured with black thread. Removal of the pin immediately restored function without damage to the mechanism. Examination of the internal housing revealed a concealed inscription reading 'The clock must stop before the final bell.' The significance of the halted time and associated warning remains unknown. The clock appears connected to larger alignment systems documented throughout the archive and may function as a monitoring or synchronization instrument rather than a conventional timepiece.

DETAILS
Handling and Restrictions:
Do not alter timing mechanisms during bell activity. Internal inscriptions must remain documented. Preservation interruptions to be recorded rather than immediately corrected.

Keeper Notes:
Instrument appears integrated into active archive systems. Function remains insufficiently understood.
Observatory Clock
Access Level:
Restricted
Period:
Unknown Antiquity
Recovery Location
Upper Observatory North Wall.
Condition:
Operational. Minor age-related corrosion present. Mechanism functioning normally.
Notable Characteristics
Stops without mechanical failure. Hidden inscriptions. Architectural integration. Responds to preservation interventions without sustaining damage. Consistent operation following restoration.
Clio Observation
Clio immediately acknowledged restoration of the ticking mechanism and remained calm throughout the observation cycle.
Muninn Observation
Muninn intentionally inserted preservation pin and displayed visible displeasure following removal. Continued monitoring behavior suggests intervention served a deliberate purpose.

Research Notes:
May be associated with bell cycles alignment events and observatory preservation systems. Relationship to Final Bell references remains unresolved. Time of interruption requires further monitoring.
