TIM-OBJ-430
The Portrait I Do Not Remember Painting is an unfinished oil portrait discovered among older covered canvases stored within the western hall. The work depicts Medusa at an apparently earlier period with a notably peaceful expression inconsistent with contemporary self-representations found elsewhere in the Archive. Although portions of the canvas remain incomplete the face is rendered in exceptional detail. Examination revealed several unusual elements including a ring not associated with any known personal possession lantern-lit stonework in the background and black flowers woven throughout the subject's hair. Scratched into the underpainting beneath the lower corner are the words third descent written in Medusa's handwriting. Material aging appears significantly older than expected and suggests the work predates the period in which it should reasonably have been created. The portrait forms part of the Archive Memory Artworks Collection and may preserve information relating to forgotten events predating current journals.
