This is the working record.
Not the archive as it is presented… but the archive as it is becoming.
Everything enters here first.
Before classification. Before cross-referencing. Before Muninn distorts it into something else. These pages hold the initial state of each discovery—observations made at the moment of contact, when the artifact is still closest to whatever truth it arrived with.
That truth does not last.
Items do not remain consistent for long. Details shift between readings. Materials behave differently depending on when they are examined. Some objects arrive already bearing traces of prior documentation—notations I have not yet written, references to entries that do not exist… or do not exist yet.
I record them anyway.
This journal is not stable. It cannot be.
You will find revisions layered over one another. Corrections that contradict earlier entries. Sections that appear to have been written before the discoveries they describe. In some cases, multiple versions of the same item exist across these pages.
None of them should be discarded.
Each version represents a different position within the same thread of existence. Removing one risks collapsing the others—or worse, fixing the object into a single, incorrect state.
Clio remains near when I work here.
The pages hold longer because of her. The entries resist immediate alteration. Not permanently—but enough to establish a usable reference before Muninn intervenes.
If you are navigating from these pages to the archive itself, understand this:
You are not moving from draft to final.
You are moving from origin to interpretation.
What you find there may not match what is written here.
That does not mean this is wrong.
It means you are no longer looking at the same moment.
Proceed carefully when following these entries.
You are not only tracing connections between artifacts—
you are tracing the point at which they began to change.
