If they accomplish anything at all, I hope they preserve the questions. Each entry gathers what is currently known about a creature, artifact, symbol, location, tradition, or phenomenon. Folklore sits beside scientific observation. Witness accounts share space with archaeological records. Occasionally the evidence agrees with itself. More often it does not. I have learned not to view that as failure.
The world is under no obligation to make sense all at once. Many of these records began as small curiosities. A recurring symbol. A familiar story appearing where it should not. An artifact carrying traces of a much older pattern. Individually they often mean very little. Over time, however, connections begin to emerge. Some endure. Others collapse under closer examination. A few become stranger the more they are studied. What you will find here are not conclusions. They are observations. Attempts. Fragments of understanding assembled from whatever evidence preservation has managed to save. If certain entries appear to contradict one another, preserve both. If two explanations seem equally possible, I have likely recorded both. Certainty is a luxury rarely afforded to those who study forgotten things.
The Archive exists because understanding is not always immediate. Sometimes the most important thing we can do is ensure that a question survives long enough for someone else to answer it. Read carefully. Follow the patterns if you notice them. Pay attention to what repeats. And when you encounter a gap where something feels missing, resist the urge to dismiss it too quickly. In my experience, the spaces between the records are often just as interesting as the records themselves.
